The Minister of Education, Hon. Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh believes that the recent worst performance of graduates under the secondary institution is due to the reduction of the number of terms spent in the level of education.
According to the minister, the actual number of terms supposedly to be spent in the Senior High School is nine (9) but a deliberate watch under the erstwhile government has seen it moved from the forementioned terms to six, a jeopardy to the nations level of education.

Addressing the cause of the sudden change he said, under the former government, new students who were supposed to be admitted in S.H.S in September were rather admitted in December.

Also, Ghana as a nation is very well recognized for holding WASSCE examination during the months of June and July every year but has been shifted to February.

He made this revelation when delivering a speech at the 12th delegates conference of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) which was held at Sunset hotel, Kumasi on Wednesday.

Unlike his party’s flagbearer, Napo never kept mute on the shape of office he has assumed. He rather descended on it to say that, he came to meet a situation where less than 30% students are able to acquire A1 to C6. Also, a situation where teachers could not set exams for students, he noted.

He also added that he came to meet a situation where teacher and parents are able to buy examination questions for their children and curriculum was also out of date for over ten years.
