Newly Trained Teachers from the Pupil Colleges of Education and some selected Private Colleges have threatened to picket against the government and subsequently continued with a massive demonstration if they are still not given the green light to get posted to the various public schools in the country.

In a statement issued by a group calling itself the Coalition of Concerned Teacher Trainees, the group was emphatic on the fact that they were being denied by their employers, the Ghana Education Service.

According to the group, they wanted to make known the bitterness that has engulfed their hearts ever since they  stepped foot in  the various colleges of education to be trained towards their passion.

According to them, barely four years ago, government under the erstwhile Mahama administration scrapped off teacher trainees allowances with the aim of creating a suitable teacher-pupil ratio to improve education in the country.

However, aside the suffocative experience of occupying congested classrooms, halls of residence and dining halls, they have also suffered the breach of trust from Ghana Education Service and the Ministry of Education.

Their dissatisfaction emanates from the fact that they have began seeing the unconcerned posture of the Ministry of Education  and the Ghana Education Service regarding theur postings.

The group indicated ,that by precedence, teachers from the colleges of education got their postings even before writing their final papers on campus so as to do an advance preparation and to commence the academic year with those teachers already  in the field.
Parallel to this, their case has been a rather disheartening one. In the guise of getting them  posted, this year’s newly trained teachers were made to fill posting forms online and till now, nothing has been communicated to them; “not even a cough about it” the group emphasized.

More importantly, the 2017/2018 academic year has started and till now, they haven’t had any information on their postings.

Their quest is to demand from government their  postings and to vehemently resist any further maltreatment.

This Coalition has linked up with over 14,000 of its members through their regional correspondents and are ready to gather full momentum and arsenals to battle government for their postings through massive demonstrations in the various regional capitals and even in every nooks and crannies of this country if Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service do not come out on how far their postings have gone.
