A lecturer at the University of Ghana,Professor Kofi Anyidoho has affirmed that according to research,industrialised countries were able to reach their level of development because they prioritize their local languages.
Speaking at the Launch of a book on the Study of Ewe Phonology for Beginners in Accra,the Lecturer indicated that for the country to achieve its desired development, there is the need to pay attention to local languages.
He however emphasized that his call should not be misconstrued that the country should do away with English but that the local language must be used side by side the English Language.
