The 2017 edition of the President’s BECE Awards to be held on the 6th of March this year has been hit with controversies among the representatives from the Northern Region.
According to information reaching EducationGhana.net, the authorities of the Ghana Education Service (GES) have allegedly deprived one Miss Yakubu Hasanatu as a beneficiary of the President’s BECE award.

According to a petition sent by the Municipal Chief Executive of the Yendi Municipal Assembly, Hon. Abubakr Yussuf to the President,heeexplaied reasons why he believes the young girl was cheated.
According to the petition, Miss Yakubu was invited for an interview and selected only to be dropped days to the event and replaced with someone she is reported to have performed better than in the exam.

“it has come to our attention that Miss Yakubu Hasanatu who hails from Yendi obtained seven (7) ones in the Basic Education Certificate Examination BECE.” he said.
Meanwhile, all the beneficiaries across the Country paid a courtesy call on the Education Minister within the week as they prepare for the main event on Tuesday.
