GNAT organized Orientation for Newly Trained Teachers in Awutu Senya District

The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) in the Awutu Senya district of the Central Region has organized an orientation Program for all Newly Trained Teachers in the district.

The orientation program took place at the SDA Church premises at Awutu -Bereku.

The newly trained teachers were taking through the laid down structure of the Association, and the essence of being a member of the Association.

They were also introduced to some of the benefits of being members of the Association, ranging from welfare contributions through Teachers fund Contributions to the Pension Contributions in Ghana.

Teacher Unionism has become a competitive affair in the country in recent times with the emergence of new teacher unions daily.

It becomes an annual ritual to educate new entrants on the Existence in various teacher unions in the country.

The Controller and Accountant Generals Department (CAGD)  has made it possible for teachers to change their unions as and when the need be.

Teacher unions therefore have a heavy duty to convince new entrants on the essence of their very existence as unions.

Currently, the Teacher unions in the pre-tertiary Institutions include :The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT),National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), Coalition of Concerned Teachers (CCT), Innovative Teachers and the All Teachers Alliance Ghana (ATAG).
