The Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at the Ashesi University College, and Former Rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA )Prof. Adei has argued that graduates who completed Senior High Schools and are teaching at the Private Basic Schools performed better on the job than the Professionally Trained Teachers from the Colleges of Education and the Universities.
The ‘good old Professor’ made this revelation during his speech on the topic “Ghana Beyond Aid “ in which he descended heavily on teachers as the main causes of the poor performance of Pupils at the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

He argued trained teachers in these schools have formed “a cabal” with their headteachers and practically do not teach their pupils during school hours.
He also blamed the poor performance of Pupils at the BECE level on Poor Supervision by the Teachers.
He argued that Trained Teachers who allegedly received higher Salaries than the Untrained teachers practically do nothing to merit such high salaries, of which he suggested all teachers should be dismissed and given another chance of employment in merit.
He suggested, that headteachers should be allowed to hire and Fire teachers based on Merit.
