The Winneba Local GNAT football team won the Maiden Edition of the GNAT Republic Day Games organized by the Awutu-Effutu Municipal of the Ghana National Association of Teachers in the Central Region.
The event took place on Monday, July 2,2018 at the Winneba Sports College Park with dignitaries from the Winneba Municipal Education Directorate, the GCB Bank, and the National President of the Ghana National Association of Teachers.
The sporting disciplines include Football, Volleyball, Sack Race among others with a massive participation by all Seven Locals in the Municipality including; Bontrase Local, Awutu Local, Winneba Local, Senya Local,Ayensoako Local,Bawdjeasi Local and the Kasoa.

Speaking with EducationGhana.net, the participating Teachers congratulated the leadership of the Municipality for taking a bold step to bring all members of the Association under its jurisdiction to share ideas, know each other, Socialize, and learn new teaching ideologies from each other.
The Teachers believed that though it was a maiden Edition, its organization had lived up to expectation.
The Teachers also lamented on some challenges that they are currently facing, including their Conditions of Service and Salary arrears among other things, of which they threw a challenge to their leaders to take up quick measures to help bring such challenges to a halt.
The Municipal Secretary of the Association, Mr. Julius Kpodo, believed there future of the Municipality is bright since there were many programs being organized for the members by the Association .
He urged all members to take advantage of such programs being organized by the Association.
