JUST IN:Gov’t to stop mass Posting of Trainees from the Colleges of Education in the Future – GES

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has said that it’s outfit may not do mass postings of Teacher Trainees from the Colleges of Education because the Country has reached its saturation state regarding teachers demand.

The Education Service has indicated that postings will be done based on the existing vacancies which will be published by the various Districts and Regional Directors of Education.

This information was contained in a Press statement issued by the leadership of the Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana on July 4,2018  as an updated report by  the Association on a meeting between TTAG and the Deputy Director General of the Ghana Education Service ,Mr. Anthony Boateng with his staff on July 3,2018.

The report has quoted the Deputy Director General of making the above mentioned revelations.

“In addition, he said, “the Government will in the coming years stop mass postings of newly trained teachers from the Colleges of Education in Ghana. Qualified teachers would have to apply at the Districts level taking into consideration existing vacancies”

His revelation was in response to a question posed by the leadership of TTAG as to whether the GES will automatically post newly trained teachers?

The Deputy Director General, GES categorically stated that, “GES has not changed their postings criteria for newly trained teachers from the Colleges of Education in Ghana”

This means that there shall still be posting of newly trained teachers but this may not last for long with reference to his earlier submission.

In response to when the 2018 posting for prospective newly trained teachers is expected to commence?,the Deputy Director General stated that the Management of GES has not scheduled any specific date to post prospective newly trained teachers who will complete their three year Diploma in Basic Education in 2018.

Meanwhile he emphasized they are working closely with the Institute of Education, University of Cape Coast and the National Teaching Council to effect postings of newly trained teachers who will complete this year.
