The President of IMANI Africa,Franklyn Cudjoe has informed government not to increase Taxes to fund its flagship Free Senior High School Policy which it started last this Academic year.He further stated that the biggest mistake government will make is to increase even one percent of taxes to increase the Free SHS Policy.
”I believe the biggest mistake the government will make ,is to increase even one percent of VAT for free SHS” He said.He also emphasized that Ghanaians should not allow government to increase any tax in order to support free SHS because government was warned and advised before the implementation of the policy ,that there were people who could pay for their own wards and that the best thing to do was to do a means testing to identify those who can pay in order to identify those who can pay,so that there will be free resources to support other sectors of the economy.

According to him,it was unfortunate to see students hung around like lizards in schools all because of free SHS,emphasizing that government does not need a GHC1.2billion bail for free SHS when it has not planned for it.
“It is mortifying to see students lying and hanging around like lizards and ants in schools.You don’t need any GHC1.2 Billion to fund Free SHS because nobody tells you to do that”he said.
Franklyn Kudjo indicated that the increase in taxes will add to the burdens Ghanaians already feel.
