Training, Deployment of NABCO Beneficiaries to Start as 254 Districts Complete Interviews

The training and deployment of beneficiaries of government’s flagship programme, Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) will commence from the month of August with various training sessions for all the seven modules of the initiative through to the end of the year, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia has hinted.

Addressing the Press after an announced visit to the offices of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) to witness at first hand, the interviewing process the NABCO applicants are subjected to, the Vice President said he is very impressed with the process as per what he witnessed. He indicated that from the reports he has received so far across all the 254 districts in the country, some 137,000 applicants have been interviewed so far out of which 100,000 will be selected for training and subsequent deployment for all the seven models of the programme.

The Interviewing Phase of NABCO

The interviewing phase of the implementation of the programme commenced some six weeks ago in all the 254 districts and it is expected to be completed at the end of the month of July, 2018.

At the time of Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia’s visit, the Accra metropolitan district alone had interviewed over 1,100 applicants.

An applicant for ‘Heal Ghana’ category, Herbert Prah, was privileged to have his interview session at the time of the Vice President’s visit. He exhibited a lot of confidence in answering the questions posed to him by the five member interview panel.

Dr. Bawumia had occasion to congratulate him for overlooking the huge media presence and staying focused on the demands placed on him by the panel.

The Nation Builders Corps (NABCO)

The Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) programme is a government initiative to address graduate unemployment which by extension will help deal with social problems.

The focus of the initiative will be solving public service delivery in health, education, agriculture, technology, governance and drive revenue mobilization and collection. According to the website of NABCO, ( www.nabco.gov.gh ) the objectives of the Programme is to provide temporary employment, improve skills and employability of all its beneficiaries.

Additionally, the programme will seek to improve public service delivery, improve revenue mobilization and access to basic public services.

The NABCO Enrichment Modules

The first of the NABCO Enrichment Modules is Educate Ghana, which will focus on STEM and other subjects in primary and secondary schools. The next is Heal Ghana, which will provide healthcare delivery to deprived and rural communities across Ghana.

The third is Feed Ghana and this module seeks to provide extensive support to farmers across Ghana whereas the Revenue Ghana module will provide a workforce and minimal technology solution to generate the requisite revenue.

The Digitise Ghana module will provide a converging solution to most of the active and latent government programmes and initiatives.

Civic Ghana, the sixth module, will provide some resource base at the District and Constituency level whilst the seventh module, Enterprise Ghana, will assist with the effort to industrialise all parts of the country.
