The National Council for Parent-Teacher Associations (NCPTAs) has ordered all Parents -Teacher Associations in the various Government Assisted Senior High/Vocational and Technical Schools to take notice and consider it as appropriate as possible, that henceforth, decisions taken by member PTAs regarding projects in various Schools need no approval from the Ghana Education Service headquarters in Accra.
The NCPTAs explained that the NCPTA as an Association, is a registered entity under the Companies Code ,1963(Act 179) and is therefore recognized as an autonomous organization as such.

This decision was taken pursuant to a meeting between the NCPTAs and the Ghana Education Service Council on July 19,2018 with subsequent press conference held on September 10,2018 by the Director General of the Ghana Education Service.
The meeting also concluded that where a School based PTA decides to undertake a project for a School, the School’s PTA should interact with the School’s Governing Board to do Needs Assessment to ensure that appropriate projets are provided for the Schools.

The decision further indicated that School-based PTAs should keep separate bank accounts from the School’s account,where the Principal SignatorSignatories shall be the Chairperson of the Association,(Vice Chairperson could sign in his absence), the Treasurer and the Secretary.
Headmasters/Mistresses as well as Bursars shall not be allowed to be signatories to the PTAs bank account nor mingle PTAs funds with School funds.
