Teachers in the Assin south District in the Central Region have accused their District Director of Education ,Mrs Nelly Sally Coleman for being the cause of their documents not been validated for payment of their salary arrears.

According to the teachers, the director’s  delay in signing some documents that have been submitted to the directorate,  as far back as March, 2016,of which most of them have to do with teachers’ salaries, was a reason why they were still not been validated for payment.

Mrs Coleman was also accused of refusing to grant 3 months MATERNITY LEAVE to female teachers,of which she   instead, was granting only 6 weeks leave to teachers.

She was also accused of  refusing to grant 3 months TERMINAL LEAVE to all GES personnel who are due for retirement.

Mrs Nelly Sally Coleman was alleged to have  written an official letter to all basic school teachers to pay 50cedis for workshop on capitation grant preparation which comes off on 23rd and 24th June, 2016,and that all headteachers should use their capitation grant to erect  signboard/signpost instead of using their grants for the provision of more pressing academic materials.

The teachers have described her attitude as ‘ gross disrespect ‘to all teachers in the district, calling on  the leadership of GES to call the district director to order immediately since her actions and in-actions remains a hindrance to quality education in the district.
