The General Secretary of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) Mr David Ofori Acheampong has been reported to have threatened to kill the Secretary of the Victims of 3 Months Salary Arrears ,Mr Daniel Owusu Baffoe .
Speaking with EducationGhana, Daniel explained that he received a call from an unknown person warning him never to mention the name of the General Secretary of GNAT if he really valued his life.
The call according to Daniel made him run for his safety before speaking to EducationGhana.He accused the General Secretary of GNAT because he narrated that the General Secretary once warned him to take him off a WhatsApp group which he earlier added him ,of which he didn’t and so was warned by the general secretary to remove him or he will be arrested by the police,only for him to be called by the police for questioning.
Daniel narrated that he once had a Similar threat from some members of the Coalition of Concerned Teachers .
Victims of 3 Months Salary Arrears is a group made up of Teachers who have been paid only three months of their salary arrears and are still waiting to be paid their salary arrears.
The payment started but now been paid in batches .Meanwhile the affected teachers are accusing their union leaders of doing nothing to force government to pay them their salary arrears .
EducationGhana will pursue the story until sanity prevails among the teachers and their union leaders.
