The Mount Mary College of Education at Somanya in the Eastern Region held its annual handing over ceremony of Prefects after a successful election and appointment of prefects for the 2017/18 academic year.
The event which was held on Sunday, July 2,2017 saw the presence of dignitaries including the parents of the Newly elected president of the Students Representative Council.
The ceremony started after the morning mass after which the chair person of the electoral commission, Mr Asamoah Nathan gave an address and called upon both the out going and incoming hall prefects.
The out going hall prefects handed over their sage and files to the incoming prefects.
The out going president then gave a speech concerning their tenure of office and he continued to plead with the College principal to remove the names of students when pasting their results on the College’s notice board.
The electoral chair called the outgoing college based prefects to also hand over their sage and files to the incoming college based prefects as custom demands.
The new prefects swear an oath followed by an acceptance speech by the new College President.
The most exciting and emotional part of the ceremony was when the parents of the new college president were acknowledged due to their presence during the handing over ceremony.
