A multi-million Ghana Cedi e-library is being constructed at Agona Swedru in the Agona West Municipalityto facilitate learning of Information Communication and Technology (ICT) for pupils and students in the area.

Mrs Justina Marigold Assan, Agona West MCE made this known when she paid a courtesy call on the Swedruhene, Nana Kobina Aseidu Botchwey at Agona Swedru.

According to the MCE, the construction of the e-library would assist students and some adults in the area and beyond to become computer literates.

She said the government under President Nana Akufo-Addo, one of the top priority was to ensure that education would receive major support.

Mrs Assan said the assembly found it difficult to acquire lands for new development projects and appealed to the chiefs and land owners to release land since more development projects were yet to come to the Municipality.

The MCE hinted that the policy of free Senior High School (SHS) would soon be inaugurated to pave way for the implementation to take off come September.

Mrs Assan called on the parents and guardians in the Agona West to encourage their children to go to school to become responsible adults in future.

She said efforts were being made by the Assembly to rehabilitate roads in the Agona Swedru and other towns in the Municipality to ensure smooth transportation of goods and services.

She stressed that the Assembly had awarded contracts to rehabilitate streetlights at Agona Swedru and others as the people prepared to celebrate their annual Akwambo festivals.

The MCE said the Assembly had assisted the Member of Parliament (MP) for Agona West, Mrs Cynthia Morrison for the construction of wooden bridge on Akora river which was washed away by heavy rains.

Nana Botchwey expressed appreciation to the President Nana Akufo-Addo for the appointment of Mrs Justina Marigold Assan as MCE for Agona West Municipality.

The Chiefs assured the MCE that chiefs and land owners in the area are prepared to release enough land for developmental programmes to improve wellbeing of the people.

The Swedruhene and Adontenhene of Agona Nyakrom Traditional Area asked the MCE to leave good legacy by constructing more development projects at Agona Swedru.

The Swedruhene cautioned technocrats at the Agona West Assembly to desist from sabotaging the MCE’s administration, adding that the Swedruman Council of Chiefs would not hesitate to report such unscrupulous officials to appropriate quarters.

The Agona Swedruhene and Adontenhene of Agona Nyakrom Traditional Area reiterated that some officials of the District Assemblies deliberately refused to direct the government appointees with intention to fail the administration.
