The 2nd Edition of the Education Community Awards (EDUCOM AWARDS) was held at the Volta Hall of the Holiday Inn Hotel in Accra on Saturday August 19,2017.
The Award Ceremony saw the Deputy Education Minister in Charge of Secondary and Vocational Schools,being the guest of honor.
The Award Ceremony saw very distinguished personalities who in one way or the other has made impact in the promotion of Education in Ghana.
The purpose of the Education Community Awards (EDUCOM AWARDS) is to recognise all the valuable educational related work that is undertaken within schools and communities across Ghana by schools, students/pupils, parents, media houses, publishers, agencies, NGOs and other individuals or organisations.
The 20 Awards categories will ensure there is an award for the most deserving children, teachers, parents, office staff, schools and other organisations.
Winners received a winner’s plaque/shield/trophy, a certificate and in some cases educational resources. Highly commended second place nominees were also issued certificates.
Ellis Ferdinand, who represented EducationGhana with a nomination for Best Media Promoting Education category won the Prestigious Award with Joy FM among other distinguished media houses in Ghana.
Ellis Ferdinand won the Award with an Internet blog making him the first Education Blogger to ever won such a category since the inception of the Awards.
Ferdinand has also become the first Ghanaian to ever get nominated as an Education Blogger in the Award’s history.
Ferdinand dedicated the Award to all teachers and Students in Ghana as well as Unemployed University trained teachers, urging government to as a matter of urgency, recruit them to occupy the empty classrooms in the country.
About Ellis Ferdinand
Ellis Ferdinand is a Professional Teacher, Leadership Coach, Blogger ,Founder of Education Awards Ghana,a Song Writer and Composer.
Ellis Ferdinand Completed St Pauls Senior High School popularly known as SPACO in 2008.Before his Completion of High School,he founded the Business Students Association and was later elected Assistant School Prefect and Vice President of the Students Representative Council in the 2007/2008 Academic year.
After Senior High School,he gained admission into the Accra College of Education in 2010 to read a general Course in Basic Education and graduated with a Diploma in Basic Education Awarded by the University of Cape Coast in 2013.
Ferdinand had his first Public appearance on September 29,2010 in an interview with Samuel Baah of Flex News paper and Pluzz Fm in Accra.The interview was published in Flex News Paper three days after his admission into the Accra College of Education.
In College,He was elected President of the Students Representative Council for the 2011/2012 Academic year.As President of the SRC,he was also a member of the Sector Executive Council of the Teacher Trainees ‘ Association of Ghana and Currently an Associate Member of TTAG.
He was appointed Executive Director of Nix Music and Films Production owned by the late Nicholas Ametepe in 2013,and also featured on songs released by the gosple kiddy group NIX DAUGHTERS in 2013.
Ferdinand’s love for unearthing talents continued from the High School where he championed the release of a music Compilation dubbed ‘SPACO COMPILATION ‘in 2008 and the ‘REVOLUTION DIARY‘ which was a music Compilation of Students from the Colleges of Education in 2013.
He founded the Youth Edutainment Tv Show in 2013,where he co-hosted the show with Yaa Atese and had the opportunity to interview the likes of the Late Eva Lokko, the 2012 Vice Presidential candidate of the Progressive People’s Party .
Ferdinand started blogging as early as 2012 when he started with a celebrity blog called Ellis Ferdinand’s Blog and later paused to commence an Education blog in 2014 which gained national recognition in 2015 ,known as EducationGhana.net.
He later registered an Education Awards scheme known as the Education Awards Ghana with the purpose of acknowledging the works of Students and teacher and all stakeholders in the Education sector.The Awards Scheme is yet to be Launched.
Ferdinand gained Admission into the University of Cape Coast to read Psychology and Foundations of Education in 2015 where he specializes in Accounting.
As a blogger,he also promote the works of Students and Teachers as well as other Institutions.He is also a publicist for most Institutions in Ghana and an online marketer.
