Sections of teachers in the country have shown their displeasure with regards to certain comments in the media which were believed to have been made by the Education Minister, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh during a two hour radio discussion hosted by KABA on Asempa FM.

The discussion which took place on Tuesday, November 14,2017 saw the Education Minister made certain comments about the Former Education Minister, Prof Naana Opoku Agyemang of the NDC Mahama led administration.

According to earlier reports, the Education Minister was quoted to have said that Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang was an “embarrassment” and a “disgrace” as Minister of Education in the John Mahama administration.

“Her four-year tenure under John Mahama was an embarrassment,” Dr Opoku Prempeh told Kwadwo Asare-Baffuor Acheampong (KABA) on Asempa FM’s Ekosi Sen political talk show on Tuesday, 14 November.

According to the teachers, though he tried his best to elaborate some of the projects and successes his ministry has choked so far which included free SHS, restoration of nursing a teacher trainees allowances etc,It was unfortunate for him as an Education Minister to use such a noble platform to rain insults on his predecessor Professor Jane Naana Opuko Agyemang with names like being a ‘disgrace’ to the ministry.

Meanwhile, there were pertinent issues that needed proper clarification, notable among them include ;postings of newly trained teachers, teacher trainees allowances and the CETAG strike.

They also criticized his affirmation that
after December, postings would not be done until September.

The teachers also questioned when resit results shall be  released by the Institute of Education, UCC to enable GES do the supplementary postings.

Most of the teachers were of the view the Education Minister always talk as if he was still on a political campaign tour.
