Trainee Teachers in all public Colleges of Education in the are being directed to put on RED ARM BANDS on Thursday and Friday, 16th and 17th November, 2017 respectively on their various campuses.
This activity is expected to show their displeasure in government’s response to the plight of theit lecturers who announced their strike action about two weeks ago .
According to a statement from the National secretariat of the Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana on the eve of Wednesday ,November 15,2017.,the leadership explained their effort to bring their lecturers back to the classroom yielded no positive results.
“The leadership of TTAG has, in its capacity, communicated this issue to the PRINCOF, CETAG and some government institutions but they have all proven futile.” it indicated.
The trainees explained the adverse effects of the strike action on their academic performance.
“CETAG, as it stands now, is on an indefinite strike and we are very much aware of the negative effects on students of colleges of education especially level 100 students who have just been admitted and level 200 students who are studying methods of teaching (Methodology) not Forgetting student teachers who need to be supervised at their out segments.” they emphasized.
The leadership also informed the President of the Country President Akuffo Addo to respond to the plight of their lecturers or they (trainees) would advice themselves accordingly..
“We would also like to inform the Government of Ghana led by H. E Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo that, after this exercise, if nothing positive is done to direct our lecturers back into the classrooms, then we will advise ourselves accordingly.” it said.
