This he said has become a cause for violence, drug abuse, rape, robbery and other social vices among the youth.”
Indiscipline is found everywhere; homes, schools, work places, on our roads and even in churches.

If we are not concerned as individuals or as a country about the moral and proper upbringing of our children, we are all at risk and our peace would be in danger in years to come, he added.
Societies of these days only think about the proper upbringing of only their biological or immediate children neglecting other children in the society. These same neglected children turned to cause problems in the society.

He made mentioned that proper child upbringing is a shared responsibility which all agencies of change must do their part to give moral and proper training to children.
Irresponsible parenting has become prevalent in the country in recent times which many parents have attributed it to poverty and lack of employment. But it does not take richness to training your child well, but rather your lifestyle that would affect their moral and proper upbringing.

Even Proverbs 22: 6 says that, “Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it”, he added.
Children are assets to parents, the society and the nation as a whole and for that matter must be trained well to give out their value when they grow. Pampering children does not guarantee their proper training, but rather how you are responsible in their upbringing.
This shows that when we discipline a child it does not mean you hate him or her. Proverbs 13:24 further states that, “Whoever spares the rod hates their children, but the one who loves children is careful to discipline them”, Mr. Akom said.
He therefore appealed to parents and the society to give moral and proper upbringing of children to save the future of the country.
