Teachers who are already in the service, or about to enter the field to teach shall be made to write the Teachers Licensing Examination only once in their lives as Teachers to attain Licences as Professional Teachers.
The Licensing Examination according to the Executive Secretary of the National Teaching Council, Dr. Evelyn Oduro in a speech delivered on her behalf by Rev. Sister Ganna, at the 23rd Annual General Assembly of the Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana (TTAG) held at the Gbewaa College Of Education at Pusiga in the Upper East Region,the executive director explained that once a teacher passes his or her licensing examination, he or she is only expected to renew her license according to a specified interval.

She explained that the Licensing Examination is not necessarily an examination as is being conducted in the normal School system, meanwhile, it will be meant to Acces the teacher’s Professionalism In his Knowledge, Attitude and Practical aspects of the teaching profession.
Describing the type of Licensing as Proficiency oriented, the Executive Director indicated that a teacher shall not be licensed if he or she failed the. Proficiency Licensing Examination .

Teachers shall be allowed to write the Licensing examination until they passed and qualified for the Professional Status in the Teaching Profession.
Meanwhile, on the renew of the License, teachers are expected to undertake regular Professional Programmes to upgrade their skills and knowledge in other to successfully renew their Licenses .
Retirees Licenses
On the part of the Retired Teachers, Rev. Sister Ganna indicated that Retired Teachers can keep Licenses for use in Private Schools.
