The University of Professional Studies Accra (UPSA) is now to be known as the Opoku-Ampomah University of Professional Studies, in honour of its founder, Nana Opoku-Ampomah.
The new name was announced by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the university’s special congregation held on Wednesday morning in Accra.
The President commended the governing council and management of the University for approving the name change, and also congratulated Nana Opoku-Ampomah and Mr. Ahmad Ahmad, who were awarded honorary doctorate degrees by the university at the congregation.
Nana Opoku-Ampomah is an Educationist, Businessman, and the Paramount Chief of Amoafo-Bekwai in the Ashanti Region. Mr. Ahmad is the sitting President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
