JUST IN:Newly Trained Teachers to undergo a one-year Induction to obtain Licenses

Newly Trained Teachers from the various Colleges of Education in the Country shall be required to undergo a one-year induction, reflection and placement in the Schools they shall be posted to teach before they can be considered as Professional Teachers.

Speaking at the 23rd  Annual General Assembly of the Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana (TTAG)  on Friday, April 27,2018 at the Gbewaa College Of Education, the Chief Technical Advisor at the Ministry of Education, Mr. Addae Akwasi Boahene, indicated that starting from the 2018/19 Academic Year, Trainees who shall be admitted to pursue the Bachelor degree Programs  shall be expected to undertake a one-year induction and placement in their various Schools that they shall be posted in the fifth year to be able to write their Licensing Examination before being accorded the Professional Status.

He further indicated that though they shall be required to undergo the one-year induction and placement, the Newly Trained Teachers shall be on Government’s payroll and be given what was due them but shall not be recognized as Professional Teachers until they were Successful in their Licensing Proficiency Examinations.
